Q. I’m not seeing any sensitive content for eDiscovery queries. What can I do to change this?

A. Documents need to be scanned before they will show up in query results. Our scan process is built into the SharePoint Online Search crawler, so as you upload or edit documents, they will be scanned or rescanned if a version of the document already exists. This article provides a comprehensive outline of content discovery and search in SharePoint. Many of the topics in the article may be of interest to you, but sections about crawls and managing the search schema may be of particular use for this topic.

Q. Why do my DLP queries have no results in Exchange?

A. We are prioritizing bringing the ability to perform DLP queries on data in SharePoint Online first, based on customer feedback, and will be considering Exchange for future updates.

Q. What are the different files types that can be detected with this capability?

A. You can find a list of the file types that we support in SharePoint here.

Q. Will this scan the OneDrive for Business documents as well?

A. Yes, the eDiscovery Center will get search results from Site Collections and any OneDrive where you have granted it access. This is covered in more depth in our documentation.

Q. Are these features available for on-premises SharePoint releases?

A. While today we are bringing this capability to our SharePoint Online customers, based on customer feedback we will be considering this capability for future SharePoint on-premises releases as well.

Q. What are the future plans for DLP in SharePoint?

A. DLP in SharePoint is an ongoing investment and with this new capability we are laying the stepping stone for more improvements. Later this year we will introduce additional capabilities that go beyond simply discovering and reviewing sensitive content. These new capabilities will allow you to create policies that automatically detect sensitive content and apply protection based on your organization’s needs.

Q. I would like to participate in the early adopters plan for DLP in SharePoint, especially for the features coming up later this year. What can I do to participate?

A. The best way to try the new features in Office 365 is via the Office 365 First Release program. If you would like to get access earlier, please work with your account team to get an even earlier preview and provide your valuable feedback!

Codname Oslo ist ein personalisiertes, auf Relevanz optimiertes Dashboard.

Oslo ist ein personenzentrierte Technologie, die die Nutzer relevante Informationen und Personen finden und endecken hilft über die gesamte Office 365 Umgebung hinweg. Nutzer erhalten Informationen mittels personalisierter Insights, welche durch die Analyse von Inhalten, Interaktionen und anderen Aktivitätssträngen im Office 365 entstehen.

Die Grundlage dafür bildet Office Graph: Ein Tool vermittels dessen sämtliche Verbindungen zwischen Mitarbeitern aufgefangen und ausgewertet werden. Dabei wird auf E-Mails, Konversationen in Yammer, Instant Messaging, gemeisam bearbeitete Dokumente und Meetingvereinbarungen zurückgegriffen. Dadurch kann sich der User rasch ein Bild davon machen, wer wie und mit wem im Unternehmensnetzwerk zusammenarbeitet.

Office Delve ist ein neuer Weg relevante Informationen und Verbindungen auffindbar zu machen. Delve zeigt jene Information an, die am relevantesten für die jeweilige Person ist an, basierend darauf, welche Arbeit sie ausführen und mit wem sie zusammenarbeiten. Mit Delve findet Sie die Information statt dessesn, dass Sie die Information suchen müssen.

Dies wird in einem ansehnlichen, karten-basierten Design dargestellt, welches leicht in seiner Logik verständlich und nutzbar ist. Es stellt einen intuitiven Weg dar, Inhalte anzuzueigen wobei man nicht mehr wissen muss, wo diese gespeichert sind und wer sie mit uns teilte. Delve zeigt jene Inhalte an, für die Sie berechtigt sind und Zugang haben – stets unter berücksichtigung sämtliche Berechtigungen in Ihrem Office 365.

Office Delve weiß, was für Sie relevant ist anhand Insights, die durch Office Graph ermittelt werden. Office Graph nutzt Machine Learning Techniken um die Verbindungen zwischen Mensche, Inhalten und Aktivitäten die auf Office 365 auftreten zusammen nutzbar zu machen.

Q. Which Office 365 Abbonementes beinhalten Delve?

A. Delve is included in the Office 365 Enterprise E1 – E4 subscription plans (including the corresponding A2 – A4 and G1 – G4 plans for Academic and Government customers respectively). Starting in January 2015, Delve will also be included in the Office 365 Business Essentials and Business Premium plans, Office 365 Small Business, Small Business Premium and Midsize Business plans. Delve will be rolled out to all customers that have one of the above subscriptions, both new and existing.

Q. When will Delve be rolled out to all customers?

A. Delve will roll out to Office 365 customers in phases, first to customers that have elected to receive significant Office 365 service updates at first release, an opt-in program. Following that, Delve will roll out to all Office 365 customers over several months in standard release, the default option for Office 365 customers. We expect Delve to roll out to all eligible Office 365 customers by early 2015. For the Office 365 Business Essentials, Business Premium, Small Business, Small Business Premium and Midsize Business customers, first release rollout will begin in January 2015.

Q. Is there a way for customers to see Delve sooner?

A. Yes, Office 365 administrators can opt-in to receive significant service updates upon first release rather than standard release by logging into Office 365 and adjusting their service settings. More information is available here.

Today we announced SharePoint Server 2013 Service Pack 1 (SP1) at the SharePoint Conference 2014 in Las Vegas, NV.

SP1 is our latest release to SharePoint Server 2013 on-premises. This service pack includes performance, reliability, and security fixes. It also helps IT address some of the most common scenarios faced when moving to the cloud, helping them deploy cloud-based workloads in their organization faster and with less complexity, while providing them with the control they demand

These improvements to SharePoint 2013 on-premises include:

Seamless hybrid connection to OneDrive for Business in Office 365.
Support for Yammer as the chosen social network, making it easier to replace the default Newsfeed.
Support for JSON Light in OData v3 requests.
Seamless connection to OneDrive for Business in Office 365

We’re making it easier for SharePoint 2013 on-premises customers to use OneDrive for Business in the cloud alongside their existing SharePoint deployment. In SP1, new functionality allows an IT administrator to selectively configure redirection of OneDrive for Business, sites, and pages to the cloud while providing familiar IT controls. By combining OneDrive for Business and existing hybrid solutions, such as Search, IT can deploy rich cloud-based experiences for users and maintain control and visibility of the content users create.

Yammer

Organizations of all sizes are using Yammer. SP1 makes it easy for IT to replace the out-of-the-box SharePoint 2013 social experience (Newsfeed) with Yammer. Using simple controls in SharePoint 2013 Central Administration, IT can choose to activate (or deactivate) Yammer, redirecting users to their established Yammer network.

JSON Light

SP1 includes notable improvements that support developers. SP1 introduces support for JSON Light, allowing developers to choose which level of metadata they would like in a response: no metadata, minimal metadata, or full metadata (previously the only option in SharePoint 2013).

Fixes

In addition to the new functionality SP1 provides, this service pack includes a number of fixes designed to improve your experience with SharePoint 2013. It also includes all cumulative updates through December 2013 and public updates through February 2014.

The list below identifies all the 2013 fixes that have already shipped, including cumulative updates and public updates. All of the fixes on this list are included in the SharePoint 2013 SP1 release. In addition to the fixes listed below, Service Pack 1 contains additional fixes for each product.

Ab Februar 2015 werden CU SharePoint Produkt-Updates einschließlich non-Security-Updates über Windows-Update verfügbar gemacht

Z.B. sind für Februar CU folgende Fixes angeboten via dem Windows Update für SharePoint

Was folgt daraus?

Sofern Sie Windows Update aktiviert haben oder WSUS so konfiguriert haben, dass es automatisch SharePoint Fixes in Ihre SharePoint-Farm einspielt, wird dies garantieren dass Ihre SharePoint Server stets auf dem aktuellen Stand sind. Das einzige, das Sie planen müssen, ist es die PSConfig von Zeit zu Zeit durchlaufen lassen um sicherzustellen dass die gesamte SharePoint Datenbank geupdated wird.

Ein Vorbehalt besteht darin, dass nun eine Evaluation des Fixes in einer Testumgebung aufwendiger sein wird.

Sofern Sie Windows Update nicht aktiviert haben, ändert sich nichts. Sie können die Installation des CU planen und evaluieren. In diesem Falle ist es empfohlen, die „Uber“-Packages herzunehmen so dass alle Komponenten auf dasselbe Patch-Level gebracht werden.

Grundsätzlich sollten Sie sicherstellen, dass alle Sicherheits-Fixes so schnell als möglich installiert werden.
